Booster’s working principle is quite easy. An outdoor antenna receives a signal from a mobile base station and transmits it to a booster. The device amplifies the signal and spreads it all over the area with an indoor antenna. Booster works in a duplex mode, which means that it not only gets the signal from the mobile tower but upon receiving sends it back.

Each Huaptec booster comes in a kit with 2 antennas and cables. It’s not advisable to change antennas or cable length in the kit, as accessories thoroughly correspond to the booster power. To start explanation, let’s figure out what uplink and downlink mean.
Downlink in mobile communication means the following: signal from base station goes to mobile phone. Uplink in mobile communication means that signal from mobile phone goes to base station.
A cellphone, being a small portable device with small limited power battery, can’t afford transmission at high power. The matter is that with higher frequency comes more of signal loss, thus more power is required for transmission that is considered reliable. Mobile phones can’t compensate this loss as they can’t afford to transmit at high power. This is why cellphones have to transmit at lower frequencies as they let to have lesser free space loss. Therefore uplink frequencies (from phone to base) are lower than downlink ones (from base to phone).
You can easily install a mobile signal booster on your own. Installation is performed in 4 simple steps:
1) Fix an outdoor antenna in the point with good signal reception outside the house.
2) Mount the booster and an indoor antenna in the centerof the house or other area with poor signal.
3) Connect the antennas and the booster with cables.
4) Plug in the booster and enjoy strong cellular coverage!

Communication signal exchange goes the following way:
Cell Tower>>Donor antenna>>Repeater Outdoor downlink (amplifies signals)>>Sever antenna>> Mobile phone (receives signal after amplification). After it communication goes in reverse order: the phone (transmits signal)>>Sever antenna>>Repeater indoor uplink>>Donor antenna>>Cell Tower.
To put it shortly, the signal goes in two directions: to phone and from it.
Each mobile provider transmits voice and 3G/4G signals at certain frequencies. To be sure the chosen booster will work correctly, check if device frequency/ies corresponds to those ones of your provider. Use our Booster Finder to know it or contact your provider directly. Each booster improves one or a few networks. It can be GSM/EGSM, DCS, 3G and 4G. GSM booster amplifies only voice, EDGE and GPRS, while 3G repeater is used to boost 3G mobile Internet on any device. Huaptec also offers dualband models which provide signal enhancement both of GSM and 3G, i.e. calls and 3G data.
Normally Huaptec booster system supports up to 220 phones within one area. The better the signal, the more it can support. The quantity of phones also depends on the resource conditions of the mobile operator.
As soon as you finish the installation and plug the booster into a power supply, you will see LEDs light up (the number and color of LEDS depend on the model). It means the booster has been mounted correctly and it has started amplifying mobile signals all over the area. You can also check it with your mobile phone. If a number of bars shown on the screen has increased and you can freely accept and make calls, the system is functioning well.
Try to take the following measures:
1) Check that the equipment is on and is working properly.
2) Make sure that in the place where outdoor antenna is fixed, there’re at least 2-3 signal bars. If there’s no signal, change the antenna position.
3) Check if there is no self-oscillation. Heavy cell tower interference will make booster shut down automatically. In this case you will need to adjust antennas’ position and enlarge distance between them (at least 5 m).
4) Check the connections between the antennas/booster and the cable to see if they arenot loose.
5) Check if the booster is powerful enough for the area you’d like to cover. Mind that thick walls and stairs can be serious obstacles for a signal.

Normally, the booster’s coverage is based on the outdoor signal. The better signal strength you get outside, the bigger coverage range you can get inside. Try placing the outdoor antenna into a location with better signal reception or, please, call our Technical Experts for more assistance.
Possible reasons may be:
1) The outdoor and indoor antennas are too close to each other.
2) The temperature of the equipment is too high, possibly due to sunlight.
3) The connection between the cable and equipment is loose.
4) The system has burnt because of the lightning or voltage surge.

All Huaptec products got CE and RoHS approvals which guarantee that the equipment doesn’t contain any hazardous substances. Moreover, mobile phones emit heavily when coverage is poor. After installation of the booster signal will grow up to the maximum and electromagnetic emissions from mobile devices will reduce by up to 60 times.
Check that the distance between the outdoor and indoor antennas is at least 5 meters. If the distance is less, change their location. If the problem is still not resolved, please, contact our Support Service for assistance.
